POSITION SUMMARY: Charlotte Country Day School, an independent coeducational day school located in Charlotte, NC, is currently recruiting Middle School Head Football Coach to begin work in Summer 2026. This is a part-time, seasonal position with hours varying according to the season. In-season work consists mostly of afternoon and evening practices and competitions. Occasional weekend work is also required. Out of season responsibilities are more limited in terms of time commitment and are generally more flexible in terms of schedule. Formal practice for the Fall 2026 season will begin on Monday, August 3rd, 2026. Work required to prepare for the season will begin at mutually agreeable date during the Summer of 2026.
ESSENTIAL FUCTIONS:
The Middle School Football Head Coach will join an athletics program that includes 26 varsity sports, most of which have both junior varsity and middle school counterparts. The Middle School Football Team will consist of 7th and 8th graders that will play in the Fall Season (August – October). This is part-time, seasonal position beginning Monday, August 3rd and ending in late October 2026. The Middle School Football Head Coach is responsible for leading all aspects of the middle school football program, including the development and supervision of student-athletes, while working collaboratively with the Football Program Head to support the overall goals of the program.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Lead and oversee all aspects of the middle school football team during the Fall season. (August through October)
- Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Athletics (Middle School) and Football Program Head to ensure alignment with athletic department along with all levels of the program.
- Coordinate middle school football logistics including practice planning, game-day operations, equipment needs, and team organization
- Communicate effectively with players, parents, school administration, and coaching staff throughout the season
- Plan and execute practices that support player safety, development, and program continuity
- Supervise student-athletes during practices, competitions, team travel, and other football related activities.
- Promote and model good sportsmanship, respect for officials, opponents, teammates, and the game of football.
- Maintain adherence to school, conference, and safety policies and procedures
- Maintenance and inventory of team equipment and apparel
- Regular communication with team parents and athletics program staff regarding team activities
- Attendance at required team and interscholastic athletics program meetings
- Support of multi-sport participation for student-athletes
- Promotion of balanced achievement in all areas of school life for student-athletes
- Compliance with all Charlotte Country Day School, North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association, Greater Charlotte Middle School Athletics Association, and Charlotte Independent Schools Athletic Association policies and procedures.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Successful candidates must have at least a bachelor’s degree
- Experience coaching football at middle school, high school, or collegiate level
- First Aid and CPR certification
- Must exhibit enthusiasm for the role of athletics in an independent school setting
- Vision and creativity
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
- Employment is contingent upon an approved criminal background check
- Candidates must be willing to pursue a certification from National Federation of State High School Associations (CIC – Certified Interscholastic Coach or AIC – Accredited Interscholastic Coach) and Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B with Endorsements of P (passenger) and S (school bus) preferred.
