COMPENSATION: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour, depending on experience and service

POSITION PURPOSE:
A lifeguard’s main responsibility is to keep patrons safe, maintain a clean facility, and have an excellent customer service mentality under direct supervision of the Aquatics Manager
Lifeguards must be prepared to act responsibly in emergency situations, prevent emergencies from occurring, and enforce all facility rules. This job description is intended to provide general information about the position. As with all positions, the duties of this position may change. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Attend in-service training
- Understand and follow all Country Day policies and procedures
- Properly maintain facility cleanliness
- Perform basic facility operations
- Enforce facility rules
- Limited exposure to pool chemicals, including chlorine
- All other facility specific needs deemed important by Director of Athletics, Aquatics Manager and or any full-time aquatics/athletics staff member
- Any other duties and/or tasks as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 15 years of age
- Must have, or be willing to obtain, a valid American Red Cross Lifeguard/ CPR/ First Aid/ AED Certification:
- Swim 300 yards (12 laps)
- 2-minute tread without using arms for support
- Surface dive and recover a brick from at minimum 6 feet, and swim backwards the length of the pool to the wall in less than one minute forty seconds
- Must be able to perform water rescues on victims of any weight and height
- Position requires walking, squatting, pushing (up to 50 lbs), pulling (up to 50 lbs), use of sight and vocal projection, standing, carrying (up to 50lbs), and lifting (up to 50 lbs)
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must successfully complete and maintain Lifeguard certifications and others as deemed necessary by the Aquatics Manager.
- Must present a professional, mature image, and have excellent interpersonal communication skills and be responsible.
